Huw Andrews is the next artist to occupy Unit#1, a rolling programme of exhibitions and projects relating to the main exhibition.

Andrews has recently returned from teaching English in China, where he began writing about his duality of roles and physical displacement, having split himself into two migrants: the artist and the teacher.

For ten days in Unit #1, in conjunction with The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp, Huw will experiment with this text along with gathered photo, video, sound and objects from Asia. In research, Huw lets things happen through wandering, gathering and trying things out, before reflecting then producing upon return. Maintaining a gap, or flux, for weeks or months in between allows the place of production to influence the shift of raw material into completed work – a process that will culminate in Unit #1.
