Its first activity started in November 2023 by working on a collaborative quilt – stitching text and embroidered patterns that respond to the plight of Palestinian lives.
Since then, members have held spaces where the public and the wider community have also been able to submit pieces of artwork towards the Peace Quilt. The artists involved in The Healing Project will continue to hold spaces to make more artwork with the community for different global issues, it came from conversations that were held as part of the Chatterbox programme.
Chatterbox started in 2022 as part of a Co-Creating Change Project with PAM. It works with Muslim women to identify and challenge barriers to engaging with visual art. The programme included residencies, workshops, studio and gallery visits, one to one mentoring sessions with visiting artists, art spaces, exhibition opportunities and discussions. Chatterbox continues as a network of Muslim Creatives from South Wales who share art related events and opportunities and engage in discussions relevant to the Muslim Artist, and The Healing Project is one of these.
