The Red Shoes

More occupation than exhibition, Shaun Featherstone's practice is focus is on social (in)justice/immobility, social class and the mass communication mechanisms which inform/ entrench perceptions of these issues. Working collaboratively through the use of presentational devices, events, convivial traditions, and good humour Red Shoes will result in the creation, production and presentation of functional works/objects as the exhibition progresses.

'Spirit of 45' film screening, discussion and workshop. Members of the public are invited to attend this subsidised screening and enjoy light refreshments and a discussion afterwards. Join Shaun and retired and current members of public sector trade unions to discuss Ken Loach's 2013 film and the issues it raises.

As part of his Red Shoes project Shaun Featherstone is organising a benefit gig hosted by Cardiff anarcho folk troublemaker Cosmo. Guest acts include musician and activist Eirlys Rhiannon and Cardiff performance poet Mab Jones. The event will raise funds for Cardiff and South Wales Against the Bedroom Tax and Food Not Bombs Cardiff.

Saturday 3 – Sunday 4 May
The Red Shoes project commences with a march from Merthyr to Cardiff. The march, in celebration of International Workers Day (May Day) is part of the Made in Spring weekend and will start from the newly opened Red House arts centre in Merthyr Tydfil.
