Victoria Lucas’ interdisciplinary practice responds to the history and materiality of place from a feminist perspective. Photogrammetry, video editing and 3D modelling techniques combine with sculptural, sound and photographic processes to remap, embody and entangle the material strata of rural landscapes.

Recent artworks speak of intimate encounters with rock and moss that leave the material body symbiotically fluid and enmeshed with shared ancestral knowledge. Post-industrial and post-colonial landscapes and artefacts become relational subjects. Her visual methods of remapping speak of a posthuman re-connection with the organic as a reclamation of female subjectivity, away from the dominating hold of extractive capitalism.

Recent shows include Aggregate, Freelands Foundation, London, 2022, The Strata of Things at Threshold Sculpture, Leeds, 2021, Heavy Water at Site Gallery, Sheffield, 2021, Where Rock and Hard Place Meet at Haarlem Artspace, Wirksworth, 2018 and The Search at The Hepworth, Wakefield, 2021. Commissions include a site-responsive work for Iodeposito, Italy, 2022 and a video artwork for the NPG, London, 2014. Lucas has exhibited her work internationally, and curated projects include Deadpan Exchange VIII, at Casa Maauad, Mexico, 2014.
