Lesley Guy's practice is experimental and multi-disciplinary, inspired by dreams, literature, mythology and cinema.

Often driven by an interest in contradiction or paradox. Guy is especially concerned with the notion of ‘mythos’, a way of knowing that is intuitive and basic, leading her to construct scenarios and actions that manipulate the 'real' or recognizable. For her most recent body of drawings Baby Animals, pages from a child’s colouring-in book were added to, negated and redesigned in an aesthetic battle between contingency and control. She is currently collecting images of random, accidental paint spillages from around the city and wondering what to do with them.

Lesley is currently an MA student at Sheffield Hallam University. She is also a member of Host Artist's Group. As a writer Lesley has contributed to a number of publications including the Metro as a regular contemporary arts correspondent and has recently been commissioned by Sheffield Contemporary Arts Forum to produce introductory texts for their Gallery Crawls.
