Kate Mackeson

b. 1985, Bristol
Lives and works in Berlin, Germany

Kate Mackeson works in a wide range of materials and techniques; drawing, painting, print-making and video. Her works explore ideas of the threshold and repetition, and of in-between, transitional and psychological states.

Kate plays upon recurring processes and symbolism to develop this heightened sense of drama using multiples as a mimicry. Mackeson also explores ideas of protection and assault by using materials and imagery that displays and blocks the viewer. Mackeson is interested in these boundaries and spaces that hang between conversations, intimacies and personal/ impersonal relationships.

Kate studied Contemporary Textile Practice at UWIC, graduating in 2006 and since then has been based in Bristol, Paris and now Berlin. In 2010 she co-founded Una Tittel, an international network of multi-disciplinary artists and curators.
