Artist collaboration Vicky Isley and Paul Smith (AKA BoredomResearch) investigate the possibilities of codes and code breaking, safety and danger in their work. Their practise descends into another realm through their Mac controlled installations where different parts of the programming take on individual attributes and behavioural patterns. Their work exists to undermine or question how we react to situations. Previous works include the ingredients for a hydrogen bomb, loaded from the internet but displayed letter by letter, a baby monitor transmitting the first landing on the moon and frisbees supplied at the private view.
Vicky and Paul have collaborated since they met at Southampton Institute and continue to live and work in Southampton. They have exhibited internationally and are currently artists in residence at Artsway, Hampshire.
