George Hampton Wale is an artist, designer and maker from Abergavenny. Most of George’s work is sculptural and textile based creating work about or for the body in some way, surrounding themes of belonging: in a body, in a landscape, in queerness and in Wales.
Their professional background as a maker for theatre and collaborations with other artists in costume and props continues to influence their work; with craft and the handmade being an important element of their practice. George also has a background in dance and is currently focussed on cultivating the performance element of their practice.
With a BA in Fine Arts and Visual Culture from University of the West of England, George has worked as a performer and costume designer for various artists including 'An Evening Length Performance' by James Batchelor and Collaborators, 'Eco-Co-Location' by Claricia Parinussa and Corin Sworn and 'Monument Walk I' by Izzy Yon.
