Messy Democracy

Anna Raczynski is a filmmaker and visual artist principally interested in documentary and collaborative art practice. She works with moving image and expanded documentary art practice to articulate conceptual ideas around cultural and social identities within public and private spaces.

The groups, communities and individuals she chooses to work with give different meanings and processes to her practice. For the forthcoming work Messy Democracy Anna worked with students of UCLan and members of the collective Precarious University. Together they developed an exhibition that responded to the possibility of reinventing the art school as a space of creativity and democratic action.

Anna Raczynski received an MA in Intermedia from the University of Arts, Poznan, Poland (2013). Recent exhibitions and screenings include: Pendle Movie Maker, Colne, Lancashire (2018); SURVIVAL Art Review, Wroclaw Poland (2016); Godzina Trzech Wiedz´m [Triple Witching Hour], Galeria Piekary, Poznan, Poland (2016). Raczynski received a Jerwood Visual Arts Artist Bursary (2017).
