“As an artist I am drawn to painting, specifically portraiture. Dissecting what has drawn me to the portrait has become a motivation for my practice. This dialogue with portraiture, its history and placement within art has led me to produce and show works in many mediums. Recently I have been pairing large fabric works with small oil paintings on zinc and copper. The backdrop has come to the foreground, veiling and sometimes replacing/becoming the portrait.
Alongside my painting practice I have also co-founded LLE with artist Lara Davies as a means of focusing on creating dialogues between painters based in Wales and painters working further afield. ‘Lle’ is the Welsh word for place, and by having no fixed place LLE has the freedom to interact and engage with artist practice in new ways.“
