Johana Hartwig's work looks at the construction and evolution of spaces and the management of information.
With a background in sculpture, she has maintained a fascination with form. Recent outputs have focused on data streams, interpretation of matter, transfer glitches and the special languages and modes of communication that are used to code, describe and quantify things. Her work stimulates thinking around value and disposability and often considers the way that we impact upon our immediate environment.
Johana also works with Art Shell, a project that facilitates new site-specific work and undertakes arts research and projects with non-art organisations. Recent exhibitions include Three Rivers Wide at Arcade Cardiff and Watermark, a commission for Cardiff Contemporary in 2014.
