Siān Melangell Dafydd

Siān Melangell Dafydd is an award winning author, poet, translator and editor. With a background in art history, she has worked in galleries in London and abroad before graduating from the renowned creative writing programme at the University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich. She won a Translators' House Wales/HALMA international scholarship to spend two residencies abroad in 2010. In 2013, she was awarded a British Centre for Literary Translation mentorship.
Her short fiction and poetry is published widely, including ‘Hospital Field’, which was included in Best British Short Stories 2014, and ‘Big Cats’ in Best British Poetry 2014. ‘Y Trydydd Peth’ (The Third Thing; Gomer, 2009) is Siān’s first published novel and won her the coveted 2009 National Eisteddfod Literature Medal. She is currently co-editor of the literary review, Taliesin and www.yneuadd.com.
Originally from the coastal and mountainous region of Meirionnydd in north Wales she now divides her time between Wales and Paris, where she is working on a second Welsh novel and teaching Creative Writing at the American University of Paris.
