Mary Vettise is a video artist with a practice that also incorporates installation and performance. Her work negotiates both visual and narrative structures in an eerie and facetious way. Video bricolage is formed from a dense overlay of both found footage and film shot by the artist, combining both optical and computer generated effects.

The geographical and temporal non-space of the disrupted picture plane see-saws between bleached out high-definition and impressionistic low-definition, and is populated by defunct and aesthetically displaced objects and texts. This methodology is also registered in a deconstructed approach to narrative that combines childhood memories and 'real-life' occurrence with obscure and probably incorrect research. Through this continued displacement and reinvestment, preoccupations reoccur - the depiction of the female figure in art history, the culture of misinformation bred by the internet and the aesthetic impact of redundant technology.

Mary Vettise graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2011 with a BA in Drawing and was a 2012 participant at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Maine, USA. She was student prize winner at the Oriel Davies Open 2012, Newtown, Wales.
