Alex Gene Morrison

b. 1975, Birmingham, UK
Lives and works in London, UK

Known for his slick and slimy pictures of mutant creatures, Alex Gene Morrison uses painting, collage and digital video to lure his audience into a world of melting heads, rotten carcasses and giant flies.

The idea of seduction and repulsion is very important to Morrison. When amassed, his work creates a parallel universe that resonates with a sense of the uncanny. Underlying all Morrison’s imagery is an endeavour to key into the audience’s instinctive feelings of desire, fear, disgust and wonder.

Morrison completed his MA in painting at the Royal College of Art in 2002. He has since featured in numerous group exhibitions in England and Wales as well as international shows in Naples, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Dubrovnik and Dusseldorf. Since 2004 he has been the subject of solo shows in Northampton, London, Nottingham and Cardiff.
