After exhibiting at g39 Wayne Gruffudd went on a year-long research trip to Canada where he made contact with many artist-run spaces. Now returned, he has begun a new body of work in the Socratic tradition of language, the shortfall of communication, and the gaps between the spoken and written word.
“The work is generated and informed from an interest in the accepted position of written language and the formats used to transfer text within contemporary culture. All the work to date utilises 'found' text on paper, (i.e. specific and general books, photocopies, magazines and newspapers), to assess the accepted position of language, writing, the chosen text, and the material itself.”
