Helen Matthews' work deals with the idea of loss and absence. Through the slowly decaying image she seeks to encourage the viewer into a process of investigation, looking at gestural marks for some clue or trace of an author. Using projected photography and other materials, she creates environments and images that drift slowly into unrecognition through their breakdown.
Helen is currently employed at Camarthen College as a lecturer on the Foundation course. She has worked there since completing an MA in Fine Art at UWIC, Cardiff in 1998
