Owen Griffiths

Lives and works in Swansea, Wales

Working inside in the studio or outside on the allotment, and most importantly collaboratively through community and discussion, Owen Griffiths' work intends to address his own feeling of disconnection from the small ball on which we live together. A multi disciplinary practice comprised of image making, installation, live action and drawing enables Owen to try to understand the world through a series of different processes.

Owen is interested in art's potential as a vehicle for change through symbol and action. Concerned with environmental and social issues his practice also explores the significance of food and cooking as a universal experience that can be shared and which creates a specific space where we can meet each other in a kitchen, street, or park, creating a participatory arena.

Owen graduated in BA Fine Art from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford in 2005 and MA Fine Art from Wimbledon College of Art, London in 2010.
Notable solo exhibitions include Ground: Owen Griffiths & Kathryn Ashill, Curated by Tim Davies at Oriel Lliw, Pontardawe in 2008 and Festival / Gwyl, Mission Gallery, Swansea in 2006.

The artist was in the following exhibition:
