Description: As Robert Hopper explores in his essay, the siting of sculpture in the open landscape can be a daunting task for any artist. Miles Davies` approach to this challenge has been to tackle it with the same sensitivity towards materials, environment and space that he demonstrates in the making of his work. The result is impressive. Although only three works are exhibited, not only does each piece intrigue the observer and succeed in holding its own ground against a powerful landscape, the group is larger than the sum its parts with the individual sculptures themselves and for the part he played in siting the work.
