Description: In reflecting upon the work of Kate Smith, I have been drawn to certain correspondences with `science fiction`. It is not that i think the artists work bears any direct relation with the popular cinematic genre; at best, one might associate it with `back to the future` rather than a more obvious futuristic narrative. Rather, both speak of the complexities of our experiences of time and space in contemporary, post industrial metropolitan life.
