Tom Cardew, How To Relax On Holiday Webcast 2018
Tom Cardew is a multi-disciplinary artist working in film, installation and performance. His practice is occupied with the blurred line between the real and the representational.
Trying to escape the binary definitions of truth and fiction, my practice tends towards interpolating familiar agents of the real world into something absurd and ambiguous.
Cardew invokes the performance of things; objects, images, texts, people; and the oft-times absurd nature of human exchange. The perceived expectations of hetero-normative masculinity, and the consequent performance of masculinity as an identity construction, are a predominant influence.
Tom studied MFA Central St Martins (2018). Recent exhibitions, screenings and workshops include: Tate Exchange, Tate Modern
