Jess is a contemporary artist that uses ceramics as their primary medium. Recent work has been a research-led interactive ceramic collection in response to Caribbean Colonialism and the Caribbean diaspora.

I combine terracotta sculptures inspired by natural forms with body-activated interactive technology, exploring identity, mythology, societal relationships, and ecological hierarchy. My work plays with dualism: self versus other, nature versus constructs, ancient technologies versus contemporary electronics, and the relationship between artefact and audience. The connection between the body and artwork, and the inherent power of the individual to disrupt electrical circuitry, serves as an illustration of the relationships I explore.

Jess studied Ceramics at Cardiff Metropolitan University and Fine Art & Design at New College Nottingham. Recent exhibitions include the Showcase at Llantarnam Grange and they have recently started the graduate residency programme at Fireworks Studios, Cardiff. Previously Jess has undertaken a Production Throwing Traineeship, and been a Studio Assistant at Vostrak Keramika, Prague..
