Richard Robinson & Robert Bermingham

Lives and works in Cardiff, Wales

Richard Robinson and Robert Bermingham are the archetypal boys' own artist collaboration, presenting two sides to nostalgic stories via a wide range of media.

They unrelentingly present us with an unedited dialogue. Through it we listen in on the chats of two friends; we eavesdrop on their decisions, their plans, and their arguments through the work that we see. The relationship between the two is clearly the most important aspect of this practice. Play is the primary object of these two artists but removing themselves from the real world of work in order to do this means that they have to take up the privileged position of artist; flirting with the art world but never quite committing.

In 2006 they were rewarded for their professionalism and the innovative approach to their work by being selected for The Jerwood Drawing Prize and receiving the accolade of being highly commended by the selectors at its opening in London. As a result their work is now being exhibited nationally.
