Heather Phillipson

Lives and works in London

Utilising her background in poetry and musical composition, Heather Phillipson has developed a practice of making moving image works that are usually short, and often highly structured and composed.

They deal with conjunctions and disjunctions of sound and image, scoring relationships between drawing, sound and movement. Phillipson is interested in left-field experimentation, creating audio tracks whose unassuming nature belies the strange circumstances of their creation.

Graduating from Central St Martins with a Postgraduate Certificate in Drawing in 2004, Heather has recently completed a PhD in Fine Art Practice from Middlesex University in 2008. Regularly exhibiting nationally and internationally, Heather has received several awards, commissions and residencies. Recently exhibiting at Glynn Vivian Gallery, Swansea and Fashion Space, London.
