Gordon Robin Brown

Lives and works in Inverness, UK

Gordon Robin Brown's work comes across as a mix between an illustrated sea shanty and The Joy Of Sex. Within his paintings and drawings are a myriad of stories and mythical beasts combined with a day to day drudgery.

His surreal paintings combine a curious elegance, humour and eroticism with an admirable clarity of line; posing bizarre narrative scenes depicting a strange, compromised paradise where both human and animal characters are set in folkloric ensembles against vast expanses of colour.

After graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone, University of Dundee, in 2006, Brown completed his MA in painting at Wimbledon College of Art in 2009. Since 2006 he has exhibited widely in group shows in Scotland and England, participating in two Affordable Art Fairs in London.
