Lives and works in London

Joe Cutler is a contemporary composer who often collaborates with visual artists. His music often explores a world of extremes, contrasting pounding rhythmic energy with exquisite delicacy, and draws upon extra-musical influences such as the writings of Jack Kerouac, Primo Levi, Sebastian Faulks and Kazuo Ishiguro, or from visual artists such as Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko.

His music is regularly performed and broadcast all over the world at venues and festivals such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Barbican Hall (London), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Opera City (Tokyo), Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Musica Strasbourg and Warsaw Autumn. His work has also been televised on BBC2 and Netherlands TV.
