Bedwyr Williams' work employs a deadpan humour and a surreal fascination with life, often in the guise of various characters such as a florist, the Grim Reaper or a Welsh Bard.
No one seems to be off limits to Williamsí club comic performances, crude drawings or sculptural installations that poke a finger at everything from artistsí egos, national identity to the ludicrousness of someoneís trousers. Although not immediately obvious, there is a real tenderness and heart to much of his work, albeit combined with the randomness of an internet search or pub conversation.
Bedwyr spent his formative years in Colwyn Bay. He graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Central St Martins College of Art & Design in 1997, followed by a postgraduate course at Ateliers, Arnhem. He now lives and works in north Wales, in Rhostryfan near Caernarfon. The artist was in the following exhibitions: blinc Apropos of nothing The Golden Record The Last Days of The Empire The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp If You Build It They Will Come anima This artist is featured in: It Was Never Going To Be StraightforwardThis artist is featured in: AnimaLinks :www.bedwyrwilliams.com
