Niamh Conneely

Niamh is interested in our relationship with the world through our relationship with the mundane. Through her current exploration of measurement tools, from metre rules and stone’s throw to bee spaces and hairs breadth, one can explore the vast and intricate world of metrology and calibration. A labyrinth of the equally incredible and banal.

Her sophisticated replication of the quotidian forces us to reconsider the norm, the nipple of a French curve, the length of a ‘nail’, the beauty of an often unnoticed rail signal. Through her subtle intervention and meticulous transformation, one can find gentle humour, comfort paired with unease, and a serious need to question everything.

Niamh studied for Foundation at Chelsea College of Art, London and went on to graduate from Cardiff School of Art and Design in Fine Art in 2011.
